The catalogue-album “The Uprising of 1863: Faces, Names, Stories” gives meaning to the 150th anniversary of the Uprising of 1863, helps to understand the importance of the uprising, and raises the awareness of the historical memory that it has. It presents the exhibits of the uprising that are preserved in museums in Lithuania, Poland (Suwałki and Augustów) and Belarus (Grodno). 3 articles are published: “The Uprising of 1863-1864 Years: the Military Aspect” (1863–1864 m. sukilimas: karinis aspektas) by VMU Prof. Jonas Vaičenonis, “The Uprising of 1863 in the Context of Everyday Life Research” (1863 metų sukilimas kasdienybės tyrimų kontekste) by VU ŠA Prof. Jonas Strelcovas, “The Historical Memory of the Uprising of 1863 in the Museums” ( 1863 metų sukilimo istorinė atmintis muziejuose) by Prof. V. Šiukščienė.
The four parts of the catalogue contain images and descriptions of 449 exhibits. The catalogue was compiled without presentation of museum material by groups of exhibits, as this method does not allow to show the links between different exhibits. Since the majority of the exhibits in the catalogue are photographs, they form the axis on which other exhibits are grouped (documents, prints, works of art, objects, etc.), which in one way or another tell the life stories of the people portrayed in the uprising, present their activities, highlight their personalities and so on.
